Law Firm Invests in DUI Defense Training

Lebanon, Tenn. (May 9, 2023) – Hagar & Phillips, Attorneys at Law, PLLC, a law firm dedicated to defending those accused of crimes in middle Tennessee, is proud to announce that two additional associates, Isaac Wilson (Attorney at Law), and Hope Ford (Law Clerk) have recently completed the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Course to deepen their knowledge in DUI defense.

The NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Course is an essential training program in the DUI defense community. Completing the course allows attorneys to demystify and challenge the validity of “validated” tests in DUI cases filed against their clients.

“At Hagar & Phillips, our team is committed to protecting those who may have been subjected to unreasonable searches and seizures. We continually invest in training and education to ensure our lawyers and staff have the most UpToDate knowledge,” said Eric Phillips, a Partner at Hagar & Phillips Attorneys at Law.

The course provides an in-depth understanding of standardized field sobriety tests (SFSTs), which are widely used by law enforcement to make the decision on whether to arrest an individual for suspected impaired diving. “The validity of the SFST depends on the proper administration of the tests. In other words, if the test is not conducted correctly, law enforcement cannot rely on the results.” By equipping their attorneys with the right skills and knowledge, Hagar & Phillips can ensure compliance with proper testing procedures and challenge unreliable testing methods.

“We are pleased that Hope and Isaac have completed the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety course,” said Eric Phillips. “Their training helps ensure that we stay current on the evolving DUI defense techniques and give our clients the best defense against warrantless and often pretextual traffic stops.”

Hagar & Phillips, PLLC is located in the Historic District of Lebanon, Tennessee. For more information about Hagar & Phillips, Attorneys at Law, PLLC, please visit www.hplawtn.com or call (615)784-4588.
